made Livelook the Cool Site of the Day for January 21, 2008. I haven’t seen this since the early days of the web but it’s still pretty cool. Nice variety of sites listed.

Today The Boston Globe republished an old New York Times article about surfers who dislike live surfcams. The first sentence talks about about an $8500 camera for watching the waves. I’ve never heard of an $8500 webcam and wanted to check it out but someone had stolen the cam at the time of the original article. Jimmy Minardi is the cam owner and is now looking to raise funds to install a new cam. It looks like the $8500 webcam has a million dollar view! As soon as it’s back online we’ll have it in Livelook.com

I’ve noticed some beautiful sunset images coming from this webcam at the Hotel Sonnleitn in St. Johann, Austria. The hotel lists a magnificent view of the “Wilder Kaiser” and you can see for yourself with the excellent webcam!

I’m back to writing about my favorite webcams after a nice vacation in Sydney, Australia. Going from the darkest days of winter in the north to summer in the southern hemisphere is terrific. One of my favorite webcams in Sydney is from Sydney-Webcam.com provided by Melissa and Warren. They have a nice view of Sydney Harbour and have provided some nice webcam shots.

We stayed over in Manly and enjoyed the beach. Coastalwatch.com has the entire coast of Australia (which is huge) covered with surf cams including the only Manly cam I’ve been able to find. They provide surf reports, live streaming video and an archive of still images.
